Canola Registration Information
Spring Canola
Spring canola varieties registered in Canada typically undergo merit testing and recommendation through the Western Canada Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee (WCCRRC). Contact Western Canada Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee here.
There are no public merit assessment trials available through the Ontario Canola Recommending Committee. Seed sponsors can follow our guidelines, submit entry forms and conduct private trials to collect merit data towards recommendation for registration. However, it should be noted that spring canola varieties that are not tested and recommended through the WCCRRC may not be granted national registration by the Variety Registration Office (VRO), and their registration may be regionally restricted (Ontario only). Registration with the VRO is the responsibility of the seed sponsor, and can be requested after recommendation is granted by the Ontario Canola Recommending Committee.

Winter Canola
